Children with fresh cut Christmas trees
At Gardener’s Outpost, we try to balance best environmental practices, local economic growth and celebrating the holiday season. Our trees arrive from the closest tree farm that produces Fraser Firs.

You shop for locally sourced vegetables and fruit, right? Well why not shop for local Christmas trees? Gardener’s Outpost offers low-carbon footprint trees from local farms that prioritize the health of the environment above all else. We partner with local farmers who care about the land, and who implement sustainable, industry-best practices to help mitigate the damage done by large-scale farms that practice clear-cutting. Our stunning Fraser Firs are sourced from North Carolina, where the farmer hand selects the most beautiful Christmas trees, cuts them one by one, and delivers them to us within 24 hours. Unlike big box stores that source trees cut months before you take them home, our local Christmas trees are fresh, which means they will bring beauty and joy to your family all season long.In this season of generosity and celebration, consider giving a gift to the environment in the form of a local Christmas tree. Not only will it benefit small-scale farmers and your family, it will benefit the planet. And there’s no better gift than that.

Large farm practices include clear cutting fields. When fields are clear cut it disrupts the entire ecology of the soil and creates an environment for run off into nearby waterways. During the runoff process nutrients are swept away. This practice of clear cutting destroys the ecosystem of the soil ultimately increasing the use of fertilizers. Many trees are cut right after Halloween and sit in a large warehouse until ready to be delivered for the Holiday season. The practice of clear cutting and holding, facilitates environmental issues and creates a very brittle tree. After spending over a month in a warehouse, most trees travel hundreds of miles to reach South Carolina. Many trees for sale in our state are from the West Coast, which increases their carbon footprint and decreases the funds into our local economy. Our trees are hand selected for grade A quality, cut and delivered within 24 hours; this practice not only encourages the soil to stay rich for future crops but it also reduces the potential for runoff.  We love that we can offer a low carbon footprint tree from a Christmas tree farm that focuses on environmental health.
